Animal Kingdom: ROCKS!
We had a "perfect day" at Animal Kingdom!!!!! The weather was PICTURE PERFECT , for one, (big), thing. (I can't imagine trying to go during rain there). Anyway, it was warm (I can only imagine how HOT it must get there in the summer, so we were there on a perfect weather day) , bright and sunny and the animals were all roaming around during our SAFARI RIDE!!! SOOOO glad Katie got a "FAST PASS" for this one, otherwise, we might still be standing in line waiting! LOL!!! It's really neat b/c you have your own "jeep -tram" ,
with a driver (they actually drive you) and , after having ridden on it several times in past trips, all the drivers are funny/smart/full of info/witty and have a bevy of info about the animals and the land they are on. They must have tons of "hidden fences", or the animals are up on hills but it is truly like going on a "mini safari" b/c you can see the animals in their habitat. The giraffes chose to get up to the road so we had to wait for them to cross. Funny! It's probably the longest "ride" in WDW--you actually get in the Jeep/Tram car and are driven down the bump roads through the "jungle". I've probably ridden it 3-4 times, but never saw as many animals out walking around as I did this time. I think, because it was morning, they were waking up and walking around looking for something to eat! LOL! Anyway, it was great. It's kind of a bumpy ride and within a few minutes, Ella Kate was sound asleep! So was another baby behind us! We laughed that those babies could sleep on that bouncing ride!!!!...The Parade at Animal Kingdom is always my favorite. It's , of course, during the day (Animal Kingdom closes at the end of the day) and the characters and their cars and floats are great. We got a great spot for viewing.Colorful and fun!!!!! We used one of our meal plan meals at the "Rainforest Cafe". We've been there before, it's great.Crazy, it's on Disney property but when you go to eat, you get your hand stamped and then when you go back out you have to check in again, even though it's still right there in the Animal Kingdom! Anyway, we had reservations there ,(thank goodness) ,and I think we got more for our $$$ there than any other place. PLUS we got that HUGE "volcano" dessert, too! All on the Meal Plan...We stayed all day until dark. So much to do and Animal Kingdom at dusk is BEAUTIFUL. Check out the last pix of the Park at dush ( from there "slide show"), even if you don't want to see the rest of them. Just gorgeous. Animal Kingdom reminds me a lot of the San Diego Zoo, actually, but of course, with a "Disney Slant".I love the gift shops there, too. Just different and cute things. You can find gifts from Africa and unique gifts in all the gift stores.L....We all agreed this was our favorite day. Kids were great and they enjoyed it all. So did we!
